Easy Chocolate Cornflake Cakes for Kids

If you're looking for an easy baking activity to do with the kids, you can't go wrong with chocolate cornflake cakes. They're quick, fun and don't even need to go in the oven, making them ideal for younger children who love getting involved.

The best part is that there are only a handful of ingredients, and little hands can help with almost every step. From pouring in the cornflakes to spooning the mixture into cupcake cases and adding sprinkles on top, it's a brilliant recipe for building confidence in the kitchen.

Chocolate cornflake cakes are perfect for birthday parties, rainy afternoons, school holidays or simply when you fancy making something sweet together without too much fuss.

Make them your own

Once you've mastered the basic recipe, why not try a few different toppings?

  • Mini chocolate eggs at Easter
  • Colourful sprinkles for birthdays
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Crushed Maltesers
  • Festive sprinkles at Christmas

Every batch can be a little different, making them a recipe children never seem to get bored of.

Top tips

  • Let the melted chocolate cool for a minute before adding the cornflakes to help keep them crunchy.
  • Use two teaspoons to make filling the cupcake cases easier.
  • Store in an airtight container in a cool place for up to 5 days.

Chocolate cornflake cakes are one of those recipes that bring back happy childhood memories, and they're just as much fun to make with your own children today.
