Father's Day gift ideas - Make your own BBQ beef & Lamb spice rub
Making your own BBQ spice rubs and marinades are the perfect way to season your meats without any added nasties often found in store bought seasoning packs. This is a general guide but the idea is to make it your own, go heavy on the chilies or garlic, its your choice. Making spices mixes is also fabulous activity for any budding potion makers. Pop your finished mix into a recycles jam or mason jar, make a label and pop a ribbon on for a special homemade Father's Day gift.
Ingredients - BBQ Beef Spice Rub
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons smoked paprika
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons mild chili powder
- 1 teaspoon onion granuals
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon ground salt
- 1 teaspoon ground pepper
Ingredients - BBQ Lamb Spice Rub
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons paprika
- 2 tablespoons dried mint
- 2 tablespoons dried oregano
- 2 tablespoons dried rosemary
- 1 beef stock cube ground up
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion granuals
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon ground salt
- 1 teaspoon ground pepper
Method
- Combine all ingredients of the BBQ beef spice rub into a small bowl pour into a clean recycled jam glass jar and secure with a lid.
- Combine all ingredients of the BBQ lamb spice rub into a small bowl and pour into a clean recycled jam glass jar and secure with a lid.
- Make a label for each jar and attach to let Dad know what was in his personalised spice mix.
