🍌 Ingredients
-
Bananas (ripe but firm)
-
Bamboo skewers
-
Chocolate (milk or dark – your choice!)
-
Sprinkles (rainbow nonpareils are our fave!)
-
A plate + baking paper
-
A grown-up to help with melting chocolate
🐵 Method
1. Peel and Chop
Peel your bananas and chop them into chunky bite-sized pieces.
2. Stick It
Push a bamboo skewer into each banana piece to make your very own banana lolly.
3. Dip in Chocolate
With the help of a grown-up, melt the chocolate in a bowl (microwave or over hot water both work). Dip each banana chunk into the melted chocolate.
4. Sprinkle Time!
While the chocolate is still melty, shake over your sprinkles. The more, the better!
5. Freeze
Place your pops on a baking paper–lined plate and pop them in the freezer for about 2 hours until firm.
6. Enjoy!
Once frozen, enjoy your monkey banana pops! Perfect for warm days, birthday parties, or an after-school treat.
🍦Serving Suggestions
Serve straight from the freezer, or let them sit for 1–2 minutes to soften slightly. Great alongside a fruit platter or with a dollop of yoghurt for a more filling snack.
❄️ Storage Tips
Keep any uneaten banana pops in a freezer-safe container for up to 1 week – though we bet they won’t last that long!
🔄 Easy Variations
-
Nutty delight: Roll the chocolate-dipped bananas in crushed nuts instead of sprinkles.
-
Tropical twist: Use white chocolate and add some shredded coconut.
-
Choco overload: Drizzle with a second type of chocolate after freezing for a fun stripy effect.
🙋 FAQs
Can I use frozen bananas?
Fresh bananas work best as they hold their shape better when dipped and frozen.
What chocolate works best?
Milk, dark or white – all are great. Just avoid cooking chocolate as it doesn’t melt as nicely.
Can I make these ahead of a party?
Yes! Make them the night before and keep them in the freezer until it’s time to serve.
💡 Tip
Make a mini "decorating station" for kids with bowls of sprinkles, nuts, and even mini marshmallows. It’s a snack and an activity – the ultimate snacktivity!
