🍪 Cookie Counting Game
Bake a batch of mini cookies, then use them to practise counting and number recognition with this fun, edible activity!
You'll Need
For the Mini Cookies
- 125g unsalted butter, softened
- 75g caster sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 egg yolk
- 200g plain flour
- 50g chocolate chips (optional)

How to Make It
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (160°C fan) and line a baking tray with baking paper.
- Beat the butter and sugar together until light and creamy.
- Mix in the vanilla extract and egg yolk.
- Stir in the flour until a soft dough forms.
- Fold through the chocolate chips if using.
- Roll the dough into small balls, about the size of a marble, and place them onto the baking tray.
- Gently flatten each one with your fingertips.
- Bake for 8–10 minutes, until lightly golden around the edges.
- Leave to cool completely.
Cookie Counting Game
- Place the Cookie Counting sheet on the table.
- Read each number together.
- Count out the correct number of mini cookies and place them on the matching circles.
- Once you've completed the game... enjoy eating your cookies!
Top Tip: Mix up the challenge by asking your child to find the biggest number, count backwards, or add two groups of cookies together for even more learning through play! 🍪🔢
