Marbled biscuits
🤎 Marbled Vanilla & Chocolate Biscuits
Makes: 18–20 biscuits
You'll Need
- 250g unsalted butter, softened
- 200g caster sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 500g plain flour
- 30g cocoa powder
How to Make It
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (160°C fan) and line two baking trays.
- Beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
- Mix in the flour until a soft dough forms.
- Divide the dough into two equal pieces.
- Leave one half as your vanilla dough.
- Knead the cocoa powder into the other half until the colour is even. If the chocolate dough feels a little dry, add 1 teaspoon of milk.
- Roll each dough into a long sausage of a similar size.
- Twist the two sausages together, then gently roll into one smooth log.
- Chill for 20–30 minutes until firm.
- Slice into 5–8mm thick rounds and place onto the prepared baking trays.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the edges are just beginning to turn golden.
- Leave to cool on the tray for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Top Tip: For a more dramatic marbled effect, flatten each dough into a rectangle, stack them together, then roll into a log before slicing. Every biscuit will have a unique swirl! 🍪
