(5 minutes prep · 10 minutes chill time optional)
Hot days call for cool snacks—and this one’s a winner! Our Watermelon Pizza Pops are juicy, fruity, and so much fun to make. No baking, no fuss, just sweet slices of watermelon turned into mini pizza treats on a stick. Kids can decorate their own, making snack time into a sunny crafting session. 🌞
Ingredients
You’ll need:
-
🍉 Watermelon slices, cut into triangles (with rind left on)
-
🍡 Lollipop or lolly sticks
-
🍦 Yoghurt (plain, vanilla or fruity flavours all work!)
-
🍓 Toppings (choose a few or mix it up!):
-
Sliced strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, grapes
-
Sprinkles, desiccated coconut, granola
-
Mini chocolate chips or chia seeds
-
Method
-
Slice & Stick:
Cut the watermelon into thick triangles and gently push a lolly stick into the green rind to create a handheld "pizza". -
Spread the Sauce:
Spoon a dollop of yoghurt on top of each slice and spread it out like pizza sauce. -
Top It Like a Pro:
Add your chosen toppings—fruit, sprinkles, coconut, granola—anything goes! -
Chill or Serve:
You can enjoy them straight away or pop them in the fridge for 10 minutes to chill before serving.
Serving Suggestions
-
Perfect as a garden picnic snack or after-school treat
-
Serve on a platter with all toppings in small bowls so kids can DIY their own
-
Keep a tray in the fridge for sunny-day snack emergencies!
Storage Tips
These are best served fresh, but you can prepare the watermelon wedges and store them (without yoghurt) in the fridge for up to a day. Assemble just before serving to keep it fun and tidy.
Easy Variations
-
Dairy-free? Use coconut yoghurt or almond yoghurt instead.
-
Sweet tooth? Add a drizzle of honey or maple syrup.
-
Make it a challenge! Have a "pizza topping race" to see who can decorate the fastest (or silliest!).
FAQs
Can toddlers make these?
Yes! With adult help for the knife bits, they can go wild with spreading and decorating.
What if I don’t have sticks?
Just serve them as watermelon wedges on a plate—still tasty and just as fun.
Do they go soggy?
A little if left too long, so best enjoyed soon after assembling.
Tip
🍉 Use a melon baller to scoop out other melon types like honeydew or cantaloupe as extra toppings. It makes your pizza even more colourful and hydrating!
